THE STORY OF EDWARD BEAR
Edward story began in 1921, in the famous London department store, Harrods. Daphne Milne bought the teddy bear as a first birthday gift for her son, Christopher. The pair soon formed a unique bond and became the best of friends.
Christopher’s father, AA Milne, was so enamoured by their partnership that he decided to pen stories about their journey through life together...
Becoming 'Winnie'
Although Christopher originally named his companion ‘Edward’, following a trip to London Zoo he chose to rename his beloved bear after the resident Canadian black bear ‘Winnipeg’ - adopting the name ‘Winnie’.
This simple gesture would inspire AA Milne to create Winnie the Pooh - a literary legacy that continues to enchant readers around the world today, a whole century later.
