A Momentous Year For His Majesty King Charles III
Every November, Merrythought joins the nation in wishing King Charles III a very happy birthday!
To honour the historic occasion of His Majesty's Coronation, held on 6 May 2023, we unveiled our exquisite King Charles III Coronation Commemorative Teddy Bear – a highly collectable piece, proudly offered in commemoration of the jubilant celebrations, and the first Coronation in 70 years.
With a noble persona enhanced by deep blue eyes, and a neatly hand-stitched nose and smile, this important character features golden mohair plush, paired with pure cotton velvet paws – one of which is embroidered with the King’s official cypher and the date of his Coronation.
This unique limited edition teddy bear is dressed in an impressive pure cotton velvet robe which was inspired by the Robe of Estate and featured golden braiding and white plush trim. King Charles, with his eye on sustainability, chose to re-wear the Robe of Estate formally worn by King George VI, his grandfather.
His Majesty’s attire was completed with the Imperial State Crown, which would historically be worn as the Coronation concludes, once the monarch exchanges St Edward’s Crown for this remarkable symbol of power. As with the Robe of Estate, the original Imperial State Crown was created for King George VI in 1937 and was closely based upon a similar crown designed for Queen Victoria.
As befitting a new monarch, this splendid collectable bear is presented with a stunning silver-plated replica of the Imperial State Crown, adorned with 26 glass gemstones, pure cotton velvet lining, and white woven faux fur trim, making it a masterpiece in its own right.
